Today I finally passsed over my last wedding set for 2018. I always get a little warm feeling whenever I have the final product ready for wedding clients. I love the reaction that I receive when they start flicking through the photos, smiling and remembering all the special moments I captured for them. After 46 weddings, I always find each and everyone unique. They all have their own stories to tell about unity and partnership. I never tire capturing a couple's special day.
After saying farewell to my final wedding for 2018, I got asked to help with some promotional work for one of South Shields newest bars - The Chameleon Bar. Its actually one of two bars in the same building with the Chameleon being downstairs and the sister bar The Maltings being upstairs. Now I was already quite partial with the Maltings reason being I usually spend every Thursday night joining in on the Rock night. While the Maltings it self was more traditional pub, the Chameleon was more like a upper high street bar that's serves special beers and cocktails.
That's where I came in. I got asked weeks ago if I could come in for an hour to capture a few photos of their cocktails to be used for social media, and so I agreed. The job was nice and straightforward with no issues. Unlike other promotions I helped with I decided to change my style a little. Usually with most jobs I mainly use flash ontop of my camera but with this venue I knew flash would not be suitable reason being is that the Chameleon didn't have have any suitable areas to bounce my flash to give a more flattering look. So I decided to use my LED panel light.

Since buying it nearly a year ago (for around £25), I've never found much of a use for it since I'm more of on-board flash person. but I thought I might as well get more use out of it more since its gonna be alot easier to work out the settings I need in-camera since switching over to mirrorless.

The shoot it self barely took an hour and every new cocktail that was being made was put in place infront of me and all I had to do was just point and click (obv with my camera settings already dialled in). There must have been at least a dozen cocktails we captured, and even took a few group ones together as well. So it was pretty much straight forward, nothing too fancy or complicated. Just a standard promo job. Even added a little social post on instagram post while waiting between cocktails.

Well so that was my first freelance job of 2019. Hopefully get more requests in soon. Tonight I'll be helping another bar that a friend runs, to help capture the music act thats on and some of its punters, so I'll probably get another post done about that.
Thanks for taking the time to read latest post guys.
