Having fun with 360 Photography

Over the last few years, technology has really pushed photography to new levels. One type of photography that has always caught my eye is 360 photography. In the early days you could only pull off such photos using special setups like multiple cameras at once or just using on camera and take multiple images which obviously takes alot of time. Its only been the last few years where 360 camera have become alot more accessible to the public consumers. I started over a year ago, using a 360 camera called the Insta 360 cam, that attached to the bottom end of my phone and it was basically like having a eye ball on my phone. This worked out great because it was compact and stored photos straight on my phone.

My first 360 camera

Unfortunately there was a accident that involved the camera easy being knocked off my phone and landing the ground resulting in the lens elements going out of focus at one side of the camera. Fortunately personal funding was quite steady so I decided to jump on eBay and see what other 360 camera I could invest in. I came across a brilliant deal on LG360 camera which was normally going for £120 at the time but there was a quick buy option for £70 (2nd hand). Once I received this camera in the post, and set it up I instantly got addicted to it. It was already alot more higher quality that the last one and it was its own self contained unit where I could remote control it using my phone.

My second 360 camera

After a while I found myself wanting more from the camera, the images were still great but the video was less than being desired. So just before last summer I came across another camera on eBay called the Mi Sphere 360 for £130 when normally it was £309. It seemed I was hitting a high roll finding myself excellent deals on eBay. Money was still quite steady so I decided to take the plunge. This one worked quite similar to the last one but the image and video quality was ALOT higher especially for low light. Even better it a social type of stabilisation where videos would appreciate alot more smoother than the previous camera. The only downside with the camera was that it was a little bit bigger so it was carrying it and sitting on me proved a little more difficult. I also love the fact it comes with its own specific 'selfie stick's, so you can get higher shots than normal.

My current camera

The main reason I find 360 photography so compelling is that your no longer restricted to just one perspective. It you don't like a certain angle of a photo you just captured, you could probably save that image actually change the orientation of the view to give the image a whole new look.

Getting a new angle

Its even better once you get your friends involved, because you can pull off some epic group photos.

Halloween Party

I've even started supplementing 360 photos with my wedding now to give the wedding clients a unique look.

Well that was this week's blog post. I thought this time I'll cover one of my favourite things to do with photography. Hopefully cover more aspects in the future.

As always thanks for reading :-)
